A missions trip itinerary will be created based on your team’s unique goals as well as the Global Teen Challenge location’s ministry opportunities. The missions team will have a designated day to enjoy and experience the beautiful Caribbean.

FAQ’s

What training will I receive?

Leading up to your mission trip you will attend two Zoom meetings. During these meetings you will get to know your team, the culture of the host country and will learn more about trip expectations.

What is the trip fee and what additional expenses are there?

Trip fees include a non-refundable $150 deposit to secure your spot on the team. You will be responsible for purchasing your airline tickets. Airline prices will vary depending on the host country.
Each trip also includes fees to cover lodging, transportation in the country, food, travel insurance and a project at the Global Teen Challenge location and a prayer journal.
You will want to bring extra spending money for food in the airport and for any souvenirs while on your trip.

Who is leading the team and what are their qualifications?

Our team leaders bring valuable experience from previous missions, including evangelism and travel to various Global Teen Challenge locations. They possess excellent communication skills and have a talent for creating a safe, welcoming environment that encourages participant engagement.

What is the payment schedule?

A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required with your application and will be applied to the total cost of your trip. This deposit is due 90 days before your departure date. Half of the remaining balance is due 60 days prior to departure, and the final balance is due 30 days before you leave.

What are the emergency plans?

We have secured a travel insurance policy that covers emergency accident and sickness expenses, as well as emergency medical evacuation. We’ve carefully selected a provider that specializes in covering individuals serving on short-term mission trips abroad. Additionally, all participants are registered with the STEP program for added safety and support.

What is the STEP program?

At OTW Global Missions, a priority is to keep you and your family safe during your mission trip. The Smart Travelers Enrollment Program (STEP) is a service from the State Department that allows travelers to register their upcoming trips. By enrolling, the State Department is aware of your travel plans and can reach you in case of an emergency. Our OTW team will handle the registration of participants and keep the State Department informed of your travel details.

What should I bring?

*Clothing – Country specific clothing needs will be discussed during the trip planning process. Clothing should be modest and respectful to the host’s ministry.

*Bedding – Each person should bring bedding and a pillow.

*Other Items to bring – Bring toiletries, a towel, bug spray , sunscreen, a small first aid kit per team, a camera, notebook, and your Bible!

*Baggage – One Personal Bag & One Checked Bag. The personal bag cannot be a roller bag, you will be charged for an extra bag by the airline. The dimensions are listed below. Also, check out TSA liquid rules. Extra bags are $40 each way. Bring money for extra bags if needed.

*1 Free Personal Bag (e.g., purse, small backpack, etc.) NOT A SMALL ROLLER BAG: Dimensions must not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches.

Where will our team be staying?

Most teams can expect to stay in dorm or cabin style rooms. IIf a married couple or family wishes to lodge together, those details should be communicated during the planning process.

Is there a minimum age requirement for team members?

Participants should be at least 15 years of age to apply for an On the Way Global Missions trip.

What can we expect to eat?

You will be served local cuisine. It is important when participating on a mission trip to be prepared to experience different cultures and one of the expressions of culture is through food.

Do I need to be bilingual to go on a mission trip?

While knowing the host country’s language is helpful for greetings, being fluent in the language is not a requirement to go on a mission trip with On the Way. There are tools for translation available on your smartphone’s app store.
